ok, I do NOT even have a cell phone. I do have a computer, obviously, and many cd's. But as I have grown older, my musical tastes are very specific. I just don't know why I would get an IPOD. I know everyone has them, but do they get used for anything else but listening to music. I feel badly that I am sort of in the dark ages with new technology, and I would get one if you guys could convince me there were things I could use it for. I love radio by the way, NPR junkie, and love talk shows.
How did you feel making the jump from records to cassettes to cds? Ipods and other mp3 players are just the latest upgrade. Now you can carry around your whole music collection and listen to the music you want, when you want to. Also, through podcasts, you can listen to a lot of your favorite shows. Just sync your ipod in the morning before you head to work, et voila, you can listen to whoever you like (if they do a podcast). Also, ipods are useful in that you can watch video on the newer ones...this is good if you are on a plane and you don't like the movie they are showing or you are waiting for them to call your number at the social security office or wherever.
Just didn't want to submit to the herd mentality. I wanted specific things, like a good vocal recorder and microphone, built in. When I went looking, I found other features I wanted...like the ability to use a memory chip AND it had to be the same chip I used in my digital camera. I found I wanted to be able to buy my music anywhere, not just at the IPOD store so I wanted software that allowed me to translate the music into a format I can use regardless of the source.
So, I ended up with a Cowon D2...it is absolutely packed with good features. You may be looking for specific features you haven't even identified yet. So do some shopping around before you settle.
